Books I’m Currently Reading 4/9/10 Edition

Without going into too much detail, here are the three books I can honestly say I’m actively reading (as opposed to those I read the first chapter of and thumbed through three weeks ago).

Publish This Book by Stephen Markley. Hysterical writing memoir, if unabashedly liberal in parts and somewhat vulgar throughout. Parts of it so far (especially those dealing with the writer’s struggle and the behemoth that is the publishing industry) have had me in tears of laughter.

Rendezvous With Destiny by Craig Shirley. Insightful, detailed history of the 1980 presidential election. Of particular interest are the chapters detailing the Reagan v. Bush GOP primary struggle.

Jesus of Nazareth by Pope Benedict XVI. Surprisingly readable, yet still highly insightful and thought-provoking, meditation on the real person of Jesus. Suffice to say, the pontiff has little use for the speculation and academic hog-tying that go into most modern accounts of the “historical Jesus”.
